NHK exhibited a 30-inch flexible OLED, which was jointly developed with Sharp

November 13-15, NHK exhibited a 30V-inch flexible OLED, which was jointly developed with Sharp, in the booth of Inter BEE 2019, was opened in Makuhari Messe. It's a R,G,B independent emission panel without color filter. Demonstration of flexibility was very effective.

This panel is composed of reflection anode, hole injection layer, hole transporting layer, R/G/B emission layer, electron transporting layer, electron injection layer, and transparent cathode. In short, it's a top emission structure. It can be bended and rolled by making use of two plastic film substrates (base substrate and encapsulation substrate). Its thickness and weight are 0.5 ㎜ and 100 g respectively. It's pilot-produced by making the conventional technology, which was adopted for OLED of smartphone. In a word, a new technology was not used. By the way, IGZO (In-Ga-ZnO) -TFT was used as active-matrix transistor.

It's possible to put in basic body system completely because of flexibility. As picture 3, it can be reeled off by a bar (diameter 4 cm) in the base body. In short, it disappears in non-use time. Sharp will release in near future.

By the way, lifetime is estimated exactly yet. However, display quality is not degraded in flexible use.
