Mitsubishi Electric releases 10.25/12.3/15-inch wide-HD TFT-LCD for automotive use

Mitsubishi Electric announced its coming launch of three new TFT-LCD (10.25/12.3/15-inch wide-HD) modules for not only in automobiles but also industrial equipment such as ships and construction and agricultural machinery that require large screens combined with high performance and superior quality. They will be released at July 16, 2019.

Sumitomo Chemical and Zymergen Announce Partnership

Sumitomo Chemical and Zymergen announced they have signed a multi-year partnership to bring new specialty materials to the market.

Sumitomo Chemical and Zymergen will develop specialty materials that may include optical films for displays, hard coatings that won't scratch, flexible electronics circuits and adhesive materials.

Japan Display announce the capital and business alliance agreement

Japan Display announced that it has resolved at its meeting of the board of directors as of April 12, 2019 to enter into: (i) the CAPITAL AND BUSINESS ALLIANCE AGREEMENT with Suwa Investment Holdings, (ii) the LCD Business Alliance Basic Agreement with TPK Holding toward business alliance on LCDs, and (iii) a Memorandum of Understanding toward formulating and implementing a business alliance with Harvest Tech Investment Management with respect to a plan for the mass production of evaporation OLED displays.

JOLED Builds Mass-Production Lines in Chiba Site for Post-Process of Printed OLEDs

JOLED announced to develop the world's first printed OLED display mass-production lines, and start building production lines for the post-process at the recently established JOLED Chiba Site. The facility development is carried out utilizing some of the funds amounting to JPY25.5 billion in total, raised by a capital increase through the third-party allocation of shares, to INCJ, Sony and Nissha.

OLED displays by JOLED will be produced through the pre-process from the array process to the printed OLED process conducted at JOLED Nomi Site and the module process that constitutes the post-process, conducted at Chiba Site. After passing the final inspection, the completed display products are being shipped to customers from Chiba. The production capacity at Chiba Site will be approximately 220,000 units of OLED displays per month. Chiba Site is scheduled to start operations in 2020, simultaneously with Nomi Site.

JDI increases capital

Japan Display (JDI) is engaged in negotiations with external parties in cooperation with INCJ. This week the company is aiming to reach an agreement with certain parties that will lead to 60-80 billion yen financing through the issuance of stock and bonds and a total capital increase of more than 110 billion yen based in part on INCJ's refinancing of existing credit to JDI by underwriting preferred shares.
