PV EXPO 2025 New topics about perovskite solar cell was proposed

February.19 - 21, PV EXPO 2025 was held in Tokyo Big Site. Main topics of perovskite solar cell are closed up in this here.

As regards perovskite solar cell device, Taiwan Perovskite Solar Corp (TSPC) only disclosed glass substrate device and A4 size flexible device as perovskite solar cell this year, too.

The former is a curtain wall, composed of 4 A4 size panels. As you image easily, it's possible to support power generation and daylighting at the same time. Incident photon-to-current efficiency (IPCE) is approximate 15%. The later has been developed by collaboration with Sekisui Chemical. Its IPCE is approximate 11%. Device structure is Meso-porous type using porous TiO2 and perovskite as light absorption layer.

The company has introduced a fist mass production line at 50 million sheet/year(A4 size base) in Taiwan domestic, and also, is producing partially small size cell for the present moment.

As picture 3, microcapsule type electrophoretic display (E-Ink display) was driven by perovskite solar cell in the booth. Furthermore, as picture 4, cultivation unit of crop using transparent perovskite solar cell was exhibited. In this unit, vegetable and fruit could be harvested in fact.

ICPE and lifetime of solar cell is enhanced by use of specific coating material

As concerns material, Central Automotive Products demonstrated an inorganic antifouling coating agent "EXCELL PURE". If this material is coated on surface of substrates, and naturally dried, some advantages are expected.

One is prevention of static charge. Static charge moves outside because EXCELL PURE absorbs moisture in atmosphere. As picture 5, charged beads don't almost adhere to coating area (center part of picture 5). As a result, particles such as dust don't adhere.

Secondly, surface of substrate is exchanged to hydrophilic property. Picture 6 shows its comparison demonstration. After coating, contact angle of water was changed from 70° to 4°. In short, superior self-cleaning effect is obtained.

Thirdly, light transmittance is increased by reduction of reflected light. Needle shape concavity and convexity on surface of substrate is formed by coating of EXCELL PURE. For this reason, refractive index is continuously changed, as a result, reflection is reduced and transmittance is increased. It's greatly effective for solar cell. Particularly, IPCE of perovskite solar cell is increased at approximate 1%.

Moreover, coating effect keeps for 10 years by only 1 time coating. Of course, it's adopted for glass, metal, plastic, and so on. By the way, typical price is not expensive, same as 20,000 yen/L. Therefore, it's greatest valuable material for solar cell. The company is proposing EXCELL PURE for solar cell use for the present moment.
